I am a primary school teacher with a knack for teaching to the multiple intelligences, particularly the visual learner. My resources are inspired by my experience of teaching different students with unique ways of learning. I love the magic of helping them to make connections in learning. The grades 3-5 are mostly what I cater to, however, I also have some great resources for grades 1 and 2.

Simple Machines: Levers - Sorting Activities for the Three Classes of Levers. Everything you need to know about levers is presented in this activity booklet. When teaching about Simple Machines, levers are usually taught first because students can clearly use them to identify the effort, load and fulcrum. This booklet explores the the first class lever, second class lever and third class lever, and illustrates them in posters, diagrams, a sorting table and a labeling activity. Real world examples of tools which are levers are also included as labelled pictures, e.g. a pair of scissors is a first class lever, a wheel barrow is a second class lever, and a pair of tweezers is a third class lever. An answer key is included for the activities.
Food Chains and Food Webs illustrated definition cards are a handy reference for your students to memorize all of the terms associated with Food Chains and Food Webs. Each card is color coded in green, red and brown to match the theme of the words used. The green cards have pictures and definitions for the words producer, herbivore and photosynthesis. The red cards are presented in the same way but are for words such as carnivore, consumer, predator, prey, etc. There are also brown cards for organism, omnivore, decomposer, scavenger, micro-organism and fungus. The rest of the cards are mostly non-living things like habitat, energy, food chain and food web.

This is a five-lesson unit plan for grade 3 - 5 students which re-introduces the concepts of force, effort and load and develops them into group activities which explore the world of simple machines. Students apply the use of these simple machines (gears, pulleys, levers)to their real world applications. Co-operative learning is emphasized in these lessons as many of the manipulatives to be used are inexpensive, easily available and are simple everyday items that can be found in the kitchen. Assessment methods to be used are both formative and summative. Worksheets and pictures of materials that I have used for these lessons are included.
